Benjamin Burton

Chairman of Griffin Heart Inc.

Benjamin has been actively engaged in philanthropic endeavors in the Charlotte area for over two decades. Benjamin has headed up several projects as a volunteer coordinator for a number of organizations such as Hands on Charlotte, The Charlotte Geeks, and The UNCC Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild.

Benjamin is a veteran game master who has entertained hundreds over the years at conventions and in his personal time. Benjamin also proudly sits on the scholarship committee for the John David Reavis Hammer of Thor Scholarship at UNCC. Benjamin enjoys cycling, weight lifting, horror movies, and playing electric guitar.

Benjamin identifies as a Jedi, Avenger, and Chaotic Good Barbarian.


Adam McLaughlin

Vice Chairman of Griffin Heart Inc.

Adam McLaughlin has been active in the Charlotte gaming scene for nearly 3 decades through various means.  He is a devoted husband and father of two amazing children.  He has a passion for doing what he can to help others and has been teaming up with Benjamin Burton for nearly two decades to host and organize various events for charity.

A true nerd/geek in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comics, Anime, and Games.  Adam uses his love of these genre to help others through what means he can. With the help of his family, he hopes to keep this up for years to come.

Kimberly Caporale

Secretary

Kimberly Caporale is the secretary at Griffin Heart Inc.  She majored in corporate communications at Lenior-Rhyne University and has lived in the Charlotte area for nearly a decade.  She enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, cooking, reading, writing, and helping others. 

Over the past year, Griffin Heart Inc. has become one of her greatest passions, and she is excited to see what the next year holds for the organization. 

Her favorite board game is Clue, and her favorite video game is The Sims franchise. 


David Dietz

Treasurer

David is a long time geek and general Renaissance man.  With too many hobbies to list (including woodworking, mountain biking and making chainmail), he still finds time to travel to gaming and anime conventions, as well as giving back to the community through Griffin Heart Inc.  David is passionate about diversity, inclusion and equity in the real world, and the plight of goblins and kobolds in many fantasy settings.
